Frequently Asked Questions

Clear, plain-English answers about the NDIS and how it can support your long-term goals.

What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

The NDIS is a government initiative in Australia designed to provide support and services to people with disabilities, enabling them to live more independently and participate fully in their communities.

Who is eligible for NDIS support?

To be eligible you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa, be under 65 years of age, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities.

How do I apply for the NDIS?

You can apply by contacting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly. They will guide you through the process, which includes providing information about your disability and how it impacts your daily life.

What types of support does the NDIS provide?

A wide range of supports, including personal care, transportation, therapeutic support, home modifications, assistive technology and employment services — all tailored to the participant’s individual needs.

How is my NDIS plan created?

Your plan is created during a planning meeting with an NDIA representative, where you discuss your goals, needs and the supports that will help you achieve them. The plan is then reviewed and approved by the NDIA.

What is your provider number?

Provider Number: 4050144347. This registration ensures we meet the strict standards set by the NDIS to deliver high-quality services and supports.

Can I choose my service providers under the NDIS?

Yes. The NDIS is designed to give you choice and control. You can choose registered NDIS providers, or non-registered providers if you are self-managing your funds.

What is a plan review, and how often does it occur?

A plan review assesses whether your current plan is meeting your needs and makes adjustments if necessary. Reviews typically occur annually, but you can request one at any time if your circumstances change.

What if I am not satisfied with my NDIS plan?

You have the right to request a review. Contact the NDIA to discuss your concerns and request a plan reassessment or review.

How can I manage my NDIS funds?

You can self-manage, use a registered plan manager, have the NDIA manage your funds, or use a combination of these options.

Where can I find more information and support?

Resources include the NDIA website, local area coordinators (LACs) and support coordination services. You can also contact SESI Care Services for personalised assistance in accessing and using your plan effectively.
